Show Low, Arizona ~ 04/24/2015

Vera Mae (Drinkwater) Beckner, 92, passed on to her heavenly home April 8, 2015, in Tempe. She was born July 29, 1922, in Montserrat, Mo.

She first came to the White Mountains area when Harold was called to be the first pastor of Bible Chapel in Show Low in 1959. They served the Lord together in several churches in California, Missouri, Oklahoma and Illinois.

The final move back to Show Low came in 1985, when Harold came to help start and pastor the newly formed White Mountain Bible Church. After his death in October 1986, she remained an active member of the church.

Vera had a gift for mentoring women and teaching both children and women. But her ministry of prayer is near legendary. She will be remembered for faithfully praying with and for others.

Vera leaves behind in the Lord’s keeping her five children, Joan Fincher, Larry (Joyce) Beckner, Linda Beckner, Joyce (Scott) Kalivoda and Garry (Kori) Beckner, and 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Don (Dorothy) Drinkwater; sister Barbara Griffith; sister-in-law Genieve Beckner; brother-in-law Dudley (Thelma) Barker; and many other family and friends she loved and prayed for through the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Rev. Harold R. Beckner.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. May 2, at the White Mountain Bible Church in Show Low.
