PIONEER WOMAN DEAD.

Mrs Joseph Powell, one of the pioneer residents of Gilmer township, aged 80 years, died at her home in the country at an early hour yesterday morning. She leaves a family of children and many friends to morn their loss.

On last Saturday Mrs. Phoebe Boddy Powell, widow of the late Joseph Powell, was interred in the Columbus cemetery. Although she had been suffering from dropsy for quite a prolonged period, yet her death came unexpectedly. She and her husband were among the pioneer settlers of Gilmer and here they accumulated quite a competence. They reared a family of eleven children, one of whom, Mark H. died a number of years ago. The children are Joe C, Jason and Joshua of Missouri, and William O., of Gilmer; Mrs. Sarah Lummis of Missouri, Mrs. Roxanna Nichols of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Mary Marvel of Carthage, Mrs. Laura Hughes of Burton, Mrs. Susie Cate of California and Miss Mattie, who is an elocutionist of note in Denver.
