Edward Crowell was the Town Clerk of Woodbridge twenty-five successive years, and an elder of the Woodbridge Presbyterian Church for thirty-nine years.
In 1710 the Woodbridge Town Church became Presbyterian. The evidence is sustained by the following entry in the Church Book, in which the officers of a Presbyterian form of government are mentioned for the first time: "March 28, 1710. At a church meeting was chosen John Foard, John Pike and Thomas Pike for Ruling Elders in the Church of Christ in Woodbridge."
EDWARD CROWELL, whose will, Nov. 28, 1755, n. dau. Elizabeth Addleton. (NJW:5557G; NJA32:82).
