James Francis Spall was born on September 2, 1898, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. He was the son of George A. Spall and Anna (Annie) Philomena McAndrew, and the brother of George Joseph, Elizabeth Mary, Emma Rose, Joseph, Eugene A., Edward Aloysius, Mary (Sister Mary Ruth, IHM), Jane and Ruth Marie. In 1930, he was working as in the coal mines.
James died in April of 1970 in Lackawanna County, at the age of 71, and was buried with his parents in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Carbondale, PA.
