SIKESTON - Maudie Jane Shanks, 105, died at 5:45 p.m. March 12, 2007, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston.

Born April 9, 1901, at Klondike, to the late Lawrence and Martha (Wells) Page, she was a homemaker and a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Sikeston.

On Feb. 23, 1920, in Blytheville, Ark., she married John Shanks, who preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1952.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Connie Shanks of Bloomfield and Charles and Ruby Shanks of Sikeston; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Jo Rakestraw of Sikeston and Wanda and Lloyd Ford of Jonesboro, Ark.; and 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

One son, Wilbur Shanks; two daughters, Billie Marie Whittle and Katheryn Boswell; one brother, Charles Page; and three sisters, Grace Chrysler, Eva Watley and Mabel Syfers, also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Matt Johnson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: George St. Onge, Tony Burdine, Eric Shanks, Joseph Shanks, Randy Rakestraw and Burl McNair.
