He joined the Navy where he served during World War II with honor and pride. He was commissioned as an Officer in June, 1946. After the Navy he worked with the Wilson Daily Times and ACC College before owning his own company, Communications Associates. After twenty-five years he closed his firm and served as President of the Eastern North Carolina Chamber of Commerce, which was successful in acquiring highway improvements before retiring in 1990.
Jim was very active in the Wilson Community. He was a member of the Wilson County Genealogical Society.
