Children's Entertainer, Actor. He is best remembered for his role as 'Mr. Checkers' on the children's program, "The Checkers & Pogo Show" which ran from 1967 to 1982. Besides Donnelly, two other actors named Jim Demarest and Jim Hawthorne also played the role of 'Mr. Checkers.' Donnelly also appeared in the television series, "Hawaii Five-O," playing 'Matthews' and 'Charlie Gray,' between 1968 and 1971. He was also a war veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Also a popular radio disc jockey and newspaper columnist. He passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the age of 66. (bio by: K)
