Pat served his country in the Army during World War II. After the war Pat became a Chef at numerous restaurants including his own restaurant, Chickadees in Albany, California. He met his loving wife Shirley while he was working at a restaurant in Fresno and she at the wholesale meat market
Pat is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Shirley Upton; brother in law and sister in law, Sonny and Ellen Stevens, Atwater, California; brother in law and sister in law Jesse and Kathy Chambers, Kingsburg, California; nieces and nephews, Michael Van Houten, Bakersfield, California, Lisa Kramer, Montrose, Colorado, Keith Van Houten, Merced, California, DeAnna Stevens, Atwater, California, Greg Stevens, Hickman, California, Kelly Chambers, Kingsburg, California, Julie Chambers, Kingsburg, California; and eleven great nieces and nephews; and six great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Henry and Maudie Odessa (Smith) Upton, one sister and five brothers.
A Committal service will be at 1:30 pm on Thursday, April 9th, 2015 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Road, Santa Nella, California 95322
