OGDEN – Funeral rites were conducted Feb. 22 at the Freese Funeral Home in St. Joseph for Paul L. Mapes who died Feb. 20 in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Indianapolis, Ind.
Rev. Arno Hutchinson, pastor of the Ogden Methodist Church, officiated.
Burial was in Stearns Cemetery, north of Fithian.
He was born June 18, 1907, at Ogden, the son of William T. and Ella Mapes.
Mr. Mapes had lived all his life in Ogden except for 4 ½ years which he spent in the Army.
Surviving are 2 brothers, Chester of Muncie and Lester of Ogden, and a sister, Mrs. Guy Finkenbinder of Pontiac. His parents and a sister preceded him in death.
He was a member of Ogden American legion Post 998 and was employed at the Mapes Hardware in Ogden.
