Joel was one of the leaders who brought members of the Church of Latter Day Saints from New York to Nauvoo, IL and then to Salt Lake Utah Valley in 1852. This was known as Capt. Edmonds 21st Company. There were about 100 people in this company. He and Eliza then moved their family to CA.
*Joel was living with his son, Jefferson, at the time of his passing.
I have seen his surname spelled as both Edmonds & Edmunds. The LDS records have his name spelled Edmonds.

Gravesite Details
Joel was buried in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Livermore, CA which closed in 1963.
