Services for Artie Mae Hataway will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2015 at Dry Prong First Baptist Church with Reverend Lloyd Whitman officiating. Burial will be in Dry Prong Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.

The family requests that visitation be observed Thursday at Dry Prong First Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will continue on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Hataway, 88, of Dry Prong passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at her residence.

She was a member of Dry Prong First Baptist Church and the Eve Sunday School Class. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and friend to all. During her working career she retired from the US Forest Service Department of Agriculture as an Administrative Secretary, co-owner of Reeds Typewriter Exchange, and Past President of the National Secretaries Association. Mrs. Hataway was also owner of Artie’s Fashion and Fancy’s. Her civic activities included being a member of the Eastern Star, and The Bucket Brigade of the Dry Prong Fire Department. Her favorite past time was playing Rook with her friends Irene Sudduth, Jo Starks, and Dianne Hunt.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Russell Alfred Hataway; parents, Albert J. and Beulah Halbrook Simmons; brothers, Roy A. Simmons, Otho Simmons, Lewis Simmons, Cecil Simmons, Ebon E. Simmons; sisters, Lessie Futrell, Bertie O’Neal, Effie Barlow.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael Hataway and wife, Crystal “Sissy”; daughter, Suzanne H. Morrison and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Jeffrey Daniel Hataway (Penny), Tommy Hataway (Kimberly), Kellie Jo Bjurman (Kevin), Lauren Suzanne Estes, William Hunter Morrison, Jerry Mabou and Christian DeRamus;12 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and all of her special girls.

Special thanks to Dr. Rob Garcia, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital and Rehab, Dubuis, Synergy Home Heath and Journey Hospice. We are thankful for her care givers, Kathy Hutzler and Pat Fox, and all her special friends and church family for their loving care of Mrs. Hataway.
