LEWISTON - Alice C. Chamberlain, 86, of Buckfield, passed away early Friday morning, March 27, 2015, at Montello Manor. She was born in Buckfield on Oct. 1, 1928, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys (MacKay) Cooper. The family lived in Buckfield and Alice graduated from Buckfield High School in 1947. Alice attended the Farmington Teachers College, where she received her B.S. degree. She was a Home Economics teacher at Buckfield High School from 1959-1993. She continued to teach for many years after that as a substitute. In the years leading up to her time at Buckfield High School, she was a teacher in Groveton, N.H., Mechanic Falls, and Portland. Alice married Delano E. Chamberlain on June 22, 1957, a marriage of 56 years. Alice enjoyed sewing, gardening, travelling, and family activities. Unknown to most, she also enjoyed watching the basketball games at Buckfield High School, and organizing school events. She was predeceased by her husband; her brothers, Winston, Rusty, Earl and Fred, and her sister, Mary. She is survived by her son, Paul. "The family would like to thank the fine staff at Montello Manor, our other family." Family and friends may attend a time of visitation from 3-6 p.m., Saturday, April 4, at the Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 30, at the Buckfield Damon Cemetery for family and friends.
