Marjorie Valjean Shaffer, 94, of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Wellington Heights.

Mrs. Shaffer was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Armstrong County, a daughter of the late Percy Ray and Lenore (Miller) Mohney.

Marjorie married George Franklin Shaffer on July 10, 1939. Together, they enjoyed 40 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1979.

She and her husband enjoyed the sport of racing cars, which later led to her love of watching NASCAR races.

She also enjoyed snowmobile riding. Marjorie was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan.

She is survived by three children, Arletta Demko of Punxsutawney, Donna Hoffman and husband Don of Conneaut, Ohio and Edward Franklin "Frank" Shaffer and wife Linda of Brookville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Baun of Rochester Mills.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two children, George Thomas Shaffer and Janice Shaffer; a brother, James Mohney; and a son-in-law, Thomas Demko.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2015, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2015, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Dale Livermore.

Interment will follow at Worthville Cemetery.
