Married Cynthia Adaline Holder on February 19, 1857 in White, Tennessee by the Reverend Thomas E. Hutson. Meredith was 24 years old. Their children:
Josephine Sparkman Teeters (1858-1936). Died at age 77. Memorial #118645182.
William B. "Wiley" Sparkman (1860-1929). Died at age 68. Memorial #91654486.
Mira Elizabeth Sparkman Phifer (1862-1894). Died at age 32. No cemetery.

1850 United States Federal Census shows Meredith living in District 10, Coffee, Tennessee. Meredith was 17 years old and living with his father Hardy Sparkman, age 42 and step-mom Mary, age 42.

Of the wounded in the Battle of Chickamauga, several died, among them Meredith Sparkman, Nich. Carrick, and others. The English Tennessee bore a conspicuous part in the entire engagement.
