John R. "Jack" Graessle, Sr., age 73, of Columbus, died Friday, July 27, 2001 at home. Retired Union Ironworker of Local 172. Vice President of the (N.A.U.S.) National Association for Uniformed Services. Member of the Central Ohio Home Plate Club, American Legion Southway Post 0144. Served in the U.S. Navy and Merchant Marines. Member of St. Agnes Church. Preceded in death by wife Virginia "Chris" Graessle. Loving father to Connie (Steve) Repass, Robbie (Sue) Graessle, Steven Graessle, Cindy (Dean) Tackett, Cecelia "Boo" (Sam) Workman, Christopher (Judy) Graessle; loving grandfather to Steve, Marcie (Trein), Robbie, Jackie (Dunkle), Samantha, Joey, Amy, Steve, Ashley, Kyle, Ryan, Clifton, Brett, Christopher, Dana, Cara, John Wayne, Bradley; and 12 great grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Grace Cassell; sisters-in-law, Marie Graessle and Shirley Graessle; many nieces and nephews; and many other loving and close friends. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 2364 W. Mound St. Msgr. Mario Serraglio Celebrant. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St. Friends may, if they wish, contribute to the Columbus Cancer Clinic or Kobacker House in his memory.
