Funeral Services for Myrtle Lee Howell have been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Hayhurst Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Harry Stafford will officiate. A private burial will take place at Park Grove Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home, Broken Arrow.
Myrtle Lee Howell was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Thursday, January 4, 1934, the daughter of Tom and Myrtle (Brooks) Medlin. She died in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Saturday, March 7, 2015. She was 81 years of age.
Myrtle was a graduate of Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She married Samuel C. Howell on November 26, 1953 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. After teaching English for 30 years, Myrtle retired from Madison Middle School. She was a writer and a published author. She was an avid traveler and visited all 50 states. She enjoyed garage sales and spending time with family and friends. Memorials may be made to Broken Arrow Neighbors at 322 W. Broadway Ave., Broken Arrow, OK 74012.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Clifton, and Albert, Sisters, Rachel and Roxie, her parents and her husband, Samuel.
