Eleanor M. Lower, 81, of 13 Lincoln Ave., died Sunday at her summer home in Pine Grove.
Mrs. Lower retired in 1974 after 20 years with the Pulaski Central School District.
She was a member and past president of the Oswego County Teachers Association, a member and delegate of the New York State Teachers Association and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
She served on the St. Lawrence-Eastern Ontario Commission from 1980 to 1986 and was a member and past president of the Monday Historical Club. She attended St. John the Evangelist Church and was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society.
Born Jan. 12, 1917, in Norfolk, daughter of Harvey and Anora McCarthy King, she graduated from Potsdam High School in 1935 and Potsdam Normal School in 1938. She received a master's degree in education from Oswego State University College.
She married Robert A. Murtha of Pulaski on July 18, 1942, at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam. Mr. Murtha died Feb. 1, 1962. She married Charles E. Lower on June 21, 1968.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mary Ellen Miller, Pulaski; two sons, Robert A. Murtha Jr., Auburn, and Brian J. Murtha, Pulaski; a brother, John King, Potsdam, and 10 grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Church with the Rev. John Hogan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
