"Consort of Rev. T.F. & d/o Ben Gamin and Ann P. Wharton"

The cemetery book says that the tombstone says the "d/o Ben GAMIN and Ann P. WHARTON", but this is incorrect. This is my great-great grandmother and the book should read "d/o Benjamin and Ann P. WHARTON." Mattie's maiden name was WHARTON and her mother's maiden name was YAGER. I live in TX but I got to go to the cemetery a couple of years ago. A real treat.

I wanted to see her gravesite because "my family's story" of her death was that she hid in the swamp from the carpet-baggers with her "twins" where she caught her death illness. One of the babies also died? I don't know if she (1) had twins where one died, (2) had two boys, my great-grandfather Alvia Price BROWN (b. 1863) and his infant brother Earnest Wharton BROWN (b. c1865) of which neither died, or (3) had three children of which one died? Either way, she died in 1865, the approximate time Earnest was born, around the time carpet-baggers would have been abundant in the south.
