Note: Mrs. Marie Louise (Beaudoin) Hammer, 89, formerly of 138 Cartier St., died at a local hospital July 12, 1988 after a short illness. She was the widow of Edward J. hammer. Mrs. Hammer was born in Megantic County, Quebec, Canada and had been a resident of Manchester for more than 80 years. Prior to her retirement she had been employed as a housekeeper for several families in Manchester. She was a former longtime member of St. Raphael Parish. Mrs. Hammer was a member of St. Marie Parish and a life member of the St. Anne Sodality of the parish. She was also a member of the West Side Senior Citizens Center. Members of her family include two sons, Joseph G. Hammer, Sr. and Leonard P Hammer, both of Manchester; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Currier of Manchester; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services: Calling hours at the J. Robert Durning Funeral Home, 754 Chestnut St., are tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mrs. Hammer’s funeral will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery where the committal service will be conducted in the Shaw Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Precious Blood Monastery, 700 Bridge St., Manchester 03104.
