John was the son of John E. Hunt Sr. and Elenora "Ella" C. Blackwell. He married Martha T. Martin.

The following obituary appeared in The Times, Trenton, NJ, Wed., 4 Dec. 2002:

BELLE MEAD - John E. Hunt, 93, died on Tuesday in Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.

Born the son of John E. Hunt and Ella Blackwell Hunt in Ringoes, he lived most of his life in Belle Mead as a dairy farmer.

During World War II he was a supervisor with Eastern Aircraft in Trenton making the plane The Avenger and he was also a Civil Air Defense spotter.

He was a member of the Mt. Airy 4H Calf Club, which his four children later joined, a member of the Harlingen Reformed Church, and a member of AARP.

John was also an avid NY Yankee fan.

He was predeceased by his daughter Bonnie who passed away in 1958, two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his wife Martha Martin Hunt, his children, John L. Hunt of Skillman, Penny Hunt Balint of Belle Mead and James Hunt of Belle Mead, a sister Cecelia D'Aprix of Ringoes, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. in The Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 Rt. 206, Hillsborough. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Park, No. Brunswick. Visiting will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montgomery Rescue Squad or the Harlingen Reformed Church.
