William A. (Bill) Rice, 82, passed away Dec. 17, 2014 at Ryan House, Hospice of the Valley.

He was born Nov. 3, 1932 in Thief River Falls, MN. to the late Dr. & Mrs. Herbert R. Rice (Maxine) of Flagstaff. A graduate of Flagstaff High School, Bill earned Bachelor degrees from Arizona State College (1957) and Arizona State University (1964).

He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1956. Bill won the Arizona State Jaycees Jr. Golf tournament in 1951 and later received his PGA certification. He was the assistant Golf Pro at Phoenix County Club from 1966 to 1971.

He retired from Karsten Mfg. Corp. (Ping) in 2000 after 24 years of dedicated service and spent the last 14 years generously volunteering his time to many organizations including Phoenix V.A. Hospital, St. Vincent De Paul, and Chris-Ridge Village Health Care. Bill was a wealth of knowledge, who touched many lives with his intelligence and generous donations, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his brothers, H.R. (Tyke) Rice, Jr. (Mary); and Mike Rice, of Sun City, and his sisters, Barbara McKeller (Cleave) of Prescott Valley, Susie Bagwell (Richard) of Phoenix, and Janie Lopez (Steve) of Anthem, and 18 nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held at a later date at St. Francis Xavier in Phoenix.
