Mrs. Lucinda E. Howland, 82, of 208 W. Fifth died Saturday at a local hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. William Doran will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Howland was born Oct. 14, 1898, at Honey Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Nancy Jones Goodner. She received her education and grew up there. In 1915 she married Ernest Howland at Friend. They homesteaded in Thomas County until 1932 when they moved to Omaha. Mr. Howland died in 1947 and she moved to Grand Island whee she worked at Coney Island Cafe for 12 years before retiring.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Shirley Shelton of Grand Island, Anna Deemer of Tempe, Ariz., Gergrude (sic) Antczak of Arvada, Colo., and Vivian DeLoza of San Marcos, Texas; three sons, Herman of Plattsmouth, Larry of Strasburg, Colo., and John of Huntington Park, Calif., 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, two grandchildren, four brothers and a sister.
