OBITUARY :
MARYLANDER IS ARRESTED BY 2 STATE OFFICERS - Police Sat Roy Moser Failed to Stop After His Auto Struck Motorcycle.

RALPH FUNK, 34, KILLED ON MIDVALE-RINGGOLD ROAD

RALPH FUNK, 34, 224 West North street, was instantly killed shortly after 6 o'clock last evening when the motorcycle delivery he was operating was allegedly struck by an automobile operated by Roy Moser, of Frederick County, Md., on the Midvale-Ringgold road.

Police said Moser failed to stop after the accident. The man was arrested late last night at a Walkathon near Emmitsburg by Lieutenant Falkenstine and Officer White of the Maryland
State Police. He is being held in the Washington County jail on a charge of manslaughter.

Ralph Omar Funk, was born May 28, 1903, on the Funk homestead, west of Waynesboro, the son of Jacob M. and Rebecca B. (Omwake) Funk. He attended the public schools of Washington Township and in 1915 moved to Waynesboro with his parents and attended the Waynesboro schools, graduating from Waynesboro High School in the class of 1923.

He had been employed in the stores of Waynesboro and lately had been employed at the American Express Company. During the summer months he operated the motorcycle delivery service for Grove Brothers, ice cream manufacturers.

He attended the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Sunday school.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Rebecca Funk; two brothers, Aaron J. Funk, West North street, and Benjamin S. Funk, Hagerstown; and a sister, Mrs. Peyton Price of St. Thomas.

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of his brother, Aaron J. Funk, 224 West North street, in charge of the Rev. S. E. Lobach. Interment will be made in Burns Hill cemetery.

The body may be viewed at the late home Tuesday evening between the hours of 7 and 9 o'clock.

According to the police investigation the automobile operated by Moser and the motorcycle operated by Funk were traveling toward Ringgold. Witnesses said the automobile started to pass the motorcycle but cut sharply to the right to avoid striking an approaching automobile, when the car whipped back onto the highway striking the motorcycle. The left rear fender, rear door and hub cap of the Moser automobile bore marks of the impact.

Funk was operating a motorcycle delivery for Grove Brothers, ice cream manufacturers.

Police said Moser failed to stop. Witnesses secured his license number and Maryland state police launched an immediate search. Last night Moser's car was located parked at the walkathon and after his name had been broadcast over a public address system he was apprehended by the officers.

Funk died instantly of a severe fracture of the skull. His left leg below the knee was badly mangled and his body was covered with cuts and bruises.
