Russell L. Macom, 76, Springfield, passed away Oct. 3, 2003, in the Manor Care Nursing Home. Russell was born Nov. 9, 1926, to Austin and Ella Macom in Cedar Creek, Mo. Russell served in World War II and always viewed his military service with pride. He retired after 41 years of employment at Colonial Baking Company then spent the remaining 12 years of his life enjoying the game of golf and renewing old and making new friendships. Survivors include his wife, Louise; two daughters, Catherine Raper and husband David of Ash Grove, and Deborah Moore and husband Harold of El Dorado Springs; three grandchildren, Greg Raper, and Jabe and Nicole Moore; two great-grandchildren, Cory and Brandy Raper; three sisters, Retha Minor and husband Edward of Republic, Barbara Herd of Springfield, and Vada Huston of Hollister; a brother, Vernon Macom of Kansas City; an aunt, Minnie Bailey of Harrison, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at Rivermonte. Private entombment will follow in Rivermonte Mausoleum.
