Edna Ruth (Irwin) Allee
Born in April, 1921 in Lincolnville, OK, Edna was the youngest of five siblings. Early in life, her family moved to the nearby town of Quapaw where she graduated from Quapaw High School.
In 1941, Edna married Cardin, OK resident Earl Allee. The couple settled in Quapaw where they raised their family and spent 57 happily married years. Edna worked for many years as a bookkeeper for United Iron and Metal in Picher, OK.
Upon retirement, she and Earl enjoyed an active life travelling around the country in their motor home, often visiting their children who lived on opposite coasts. They particularly enjoyed spending winters in South Texas with their Good Sam's Club friends. While in her 80's, she also travelled to Germany several times to visit family and friends.
In 2003, Edna sold the family home and moved to Beverly, MA to be closer to her family. For the last four and a half years, she found great pleasure in making her home at the Girdler House, an assisted living home for retired women in Beverly. Her friendliness and optimisim made her a much-loved member of that community.
Edna succumbed to cancer on February 18th after nearly 30 years of living with the disease in remission. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Stanton of Beverly and son John Allee of Düsseldorf, Germany and three grandchildren, Clare Stanton, Jack Stanton and Elena Rohrbach-Allee.
Funeral service will held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 26th at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami OK. Interment will be at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Miami, OK.
The family would like to especially thank the dedicated and loving staff of Girdler House who contributed to the happy life Edna enjoyed over the past several years.
