MADISON — Alf T. Sherman, age 85, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2007, at Karmenta Nursing Home, after a long illness. He was born on Dec. 30, 1921, in Bloomer. Wis., the son of Torvald and Sigrid (Helgeson) Sherman. His family moved to Madison when he was a young man. He worked for R.T. Gannon Construction Company for many years and retired from the Dane Co. Airport. He married Geraldine Prindiville and had a son, David. He later married Olive Harris Gratz. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Olive; son, David of Lombard, Ill.; three step daughters. Marian (Kenny) Schmitz of Mineral Point, Carolyn (Don) Meuer of Dodgeville and Janet (Dick) Hyland of Belleville; 12 step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. He is further survived by his sisters. Mrs. Ann Cloutier and Mrs. Lola (Palmer) Paulson; brothers, Clayton (Lois) and Allen (Jeanette); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wallace; sister, Marian Bentheimer; brother-in-law. Gene Cloutier; and step grandson. Jeff Hyland. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. May 30, 2007, at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive.
