A native of Kirkman, Iowa, Anderson is best remembered for his role as 'Clarabelle The Clown' on the classic children's program, "Howdy Doody" from 1947 to 1960. Although 'Clarabelle' never spoke a word on the program, the character did say 'Goodbye, Kids' in the very last episode. In his later years, Anderson was the leader of a big band.
