Robert Hoover

Funeral services for Robert Hoover, former Lexington resident, were held September 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Home Church of God in Christ in Gary, Indiana. Eider Clarence Harris was the officiating minister.

He died September 20 at the age of 71. A native of Holmes County, he was born December 27, 1913. Mr. Hoover was a retired employee of Northern Indiana Dock where he worked for 25 years. He was a member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Hoover of Gary, Indiana; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Lillie) Jones and Missionary Ella Chandler, both of Gary, Indiana; Mrs. George (Anna) Lowery of Midland, Michigan; a son, Robert (Coran) Hoover, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia; four sisters, Mrs. Abbie Moore and Mrs. Annie Lee Stewart both of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Ethel Ellis of Lexington; Mrs. Katherine Chalmers of Chicago, Illinois: seven brothers, Rev. Walter Hoover, John Hoover and Jeremiah Hoover, all of Chicago, Illinois; Frank Hoover, Jr. of Greenwood, Dewitt Hoover of Tchula; Joe Nathan Hoover of Lexington and Elder Frank Weatheroff of Kansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Burial was in Fern Oaks Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Clinton Horton, Timothy Cusic, Clarence Jones, Sr., George Lowery, Ronald Pitts, and Robert Hoover, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Walter Hoover, Frank Hoover, Jr., John Hoover, Joe Nathan Hoover, Jeremiah Hoover, Dewitt Hoover and Elder Frank Weatheroff.
