Thomas Hilley's Obituary

From "Southern Historical Press," compiled by The Rev. S. Emmett Lucas, Jr., 1979, privately published, issue of August 10, 1838.

"Died, at the residence of his son in Heard Co., Ga., on the 22d of March last, of Pleurisy, Mr. Thomas Hilly, Sen. He was born in the State of Virginia, April 26, 1754, and was a soldier of the Revolution. He removed some forty-five years ago from Virginia, and settled in Wilkes County, Ga. (now Elbert), where he resided until January last, when he removed with his son to the place where he died. For the last thirty years or more he had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. During his sickness he was visited by Elder James Davis, of the Baptist Church. . . [contributed by] Harris Stearns"
