William Vlasak, 98, a long-time resident of the East of Nagle area, died Sep. 7. Born in Chicago on Jan. 24, 1900, he retired after 40 years with the Chicago Transit Authority. He and his wife, Alfhild, celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary this year. They were among the first members of the Norwood Park Senior Citizens Club, founded in the 1960s, and also belonged to the Norwood Park Historical Society.

Visitation was held Sep. 11 at the M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Hwy., Chicago. His funeral service was held at the funeral home on Sep. 12. Interment was at Ridgewood Cemetery. Memorials were suggested to the American Cancer Society, 77 E. Monroe St., 12th Fl., Chicago, IL 60603-5700.

Mr. Vlasak was the husband of Alfhild (nee Pretorius); father of Shirley Baltz and the late William Robert; grandfather of eight; great-grandfather of nine.
