| Birth: | Nov. 17, 1885 | | Death: | Feb. 3, 1966 |  Olympic Athlete. A native of Hull, England, but later a citizen of Canada, Goulding is best known as one of the earliest marathon racers. Goulding, who excelled in both track and field and walking, participated in over 300 races at distances from 1-40 miles. He competed for Canada at the 1908 Olympics in London, England, and placed 19th in the marathon and 4th in the walk. In 1912, he also participated in the Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden. He entered the 10,000 metre race and took the lead, winning by eighty yards in record time. Goulding died in 1966, at the age of 80. He was inducted into the Canada Sports Hall of Fame in 1955, in the category of Lifestyle. (bio by: K)
