Charles William Slagle of Chestertown, MD., died at his home Friday, May 5, 2006. He was 84.

Charles W. Slagle was born in Quaker Neck the son of the late Charles P. and Sarah "Dickerson" Slagle. Mr. Slagle served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked as a carpenter and was well known for his picnic tables and Adirondack chairs. Mr. Slagle was a member of the American Legion Post 36. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing and woodworking. He also played guitar and enjoyed Blue Grass music. Mr. Slagle volunteered at Chester River Manor by playing music for the residents. He also sang in the choir for many years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Charles W. Slagle is survived by one daughter, Kathy Elizabeth Slagle Chance of Rock Hall, MD., one son, Steven Preston Slagle of Rock Hall, MD.,one sister, Thelma Legg of Chestertown, MD., one brother, John Leslie Slagle of Chestertown, MD., three grandchildren, Melanie Margaret Chance of New Jersey, Richard Alan Chance of Florida, and Charles William Slagle of Rock Hall, MD., as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 10am at Chester Cemetery in Chestertown, MD.
