Gayle’s life began on February 2, 1932 in Kingman, KS; the son of Charles W. and Bernice M. (Ecton) Honey.

He was a graduate of Ulysses High School. He was united in marriage to Doris Strickland in 1952 in Ulysses, KS.

Gayle worked as a mechanical engineer for Cities Service Gas Company for many years. He was a member of the Union of Operating Engineers. Gayle was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, and boater- an all-around outdoorsman. He was a Boy Scout Leader and was a known prankster. Gayle enjoyed woodworking and made many beautiful pieces for his home and family. His loving family include his wife Doris of El Dorado, sons Curtis Jimmie)Honey , Gary (Micki) Honey and Jay (Lori) Honey, all of El Dorado; grandchildren Tiffany Lovette, Carly Lucas, Jessica Tuten, Amy Kearney, Christopher Honey, Travis Honey, Melodee Honey, Alec Honey and Meagan Honey; several great grandchildren and a sister Doris Buttram of Denver, CO.

Gayle passed away on January 30, 2015 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.

He is preceded in death by a son Rodney G. Honey, a sister Grace Lambert and a brother Arthur Rittel. His family will gather with friends on Saturday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 430 Eunice in El Dorado where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Steve Hysom. He will be laid to rest in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church.
