Mrs. Ruth Virginia Stang, 78, of 9205 Oak Tree Circle, Frederick, died Friday, Aug. 6, at her home.

She was the wife of Claude Luther Stang, who died Nov. 12, 1991.

Born Oct. 11, 1920, near Jefferson, she was a daughter of the late Roger C. and Fannie Grace Pearl Snoots.

A mother and homemaker, Mrs. Stang assisted her husband on the local family farm.

She was a member of Chapel Lutheran Church, Daysville Road, near Libertytown.

She worked for the Frederick County Board of Education at East Frederick Elementary School.

Surviving are two sons, Luther C. Stang and wife Beverly of Frederick, and Paul D. Stang and wife Mary J. of Tyjears, N.M.; two grandchildren, Glenda J. and James Stang; one great-grandson, Bradley James Stang; two sisters, Hilda E. Harshman of Myersville, and Naomi M. Mount of Mount Airy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stang was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Roy, Millard and Roger Snoots; and two sisters, Grace Stang and Ruby Rippeon.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11. The Rev. Maurice A. Arsenault will officiate.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
