Leon Frank Borja passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the age of 84.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Barry Edward Borja, his parents Ramon and Marianna Cruz Borja, along with his 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
He is survived by his longtime companion Anneliese Ducros, along with her children and grandchildren. Devoted father of Pamela Ann Borja. Proud grandfather of Cynthia “Candy” Treadway Vieira (Nelson), and his great granddaughter, Victoria Vieira. Brother of Richard L. Borja. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and especially Carl Kobe (Pam), Jannine Millet and Ann Marie Lowe.
Leon was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish, where he enjoyed a 70 year career in the diamond setting trade, including the business he owned and operated in Arabi, Leon Borja Fine Jewlers. He enjoyed serving the people of St. Bernard, along with celebrating each Carnival season. Some of his fondest memories were of serving as king of many Carnival Krewes over the years. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal companion, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many, who loved St. Bernard Parish and treasured his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, January 30th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00PM.
Burial will be private.
