West Virginia, USA
My great-great uncle. Confederate Soldier. He mustered into service with Co. D, 45th Virginia Infantry on June 2, 1861, at Wytheville, VA, and was a Commissary Sergeant. He was captured at Piedmont, VA, on June 5, 1864, and held POW at Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Indiana. Exchanged March 4, 1865 at City Point, Hopewell, VA, and signed his parole on June 16,1865, in Charleston, WV. According to the history I have, he was partially disabled by wounds received at Piedmont. He is patriarch of the "Hudson Huffard" branch of our family, who have been prominent in Bluefield, VA.
I have his service records if any historian of the war in Southwestern Virginia is interested.
