Newton County News, January 25, 1952:
Mr. Henry Rush of the Cave has received information about the passing of his daughter, Mrs. Fannie Rush Byrd at 1:30 a.m., on January 10, 1952, in Los Angeles, California. She died at the home of her brother, Mr. Thurman Rush.
Mrs. Byrd was born on December 12, 903, on Sloan Mountain. Later she moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she became the bride of Mr. Emery G. Byrd, on February 25, 1925. To this union were born three children, daughter Lorene and sons Lloyd and Darrell. Beside her father, husband and children, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sara Gladd and Mrs. Vesta Davis, both of Bakersfield, California, and two brothers, Albert and Thurman, both living in Los Angeles, California.
Mrs. Byrd spent many months in hospitals in Barstow and Muskogee.
At the time Mr. Rush received notification of his daughter's death funeral arrangements had not been completed but it is his opinion that internment took place Saturday January 12.
