CEDAR FORT -- Funeral services for Keren Bingham Hacking, 88, of Cedar Fort, who died of causes incident to age Tuesday, Feb. 15, 1977 at the home of a daughter in Columbia, Carbon County, will be Saturday [19 February 1977] at 11 a.m. in Wing Mortuary in Lehi.

Mrs. Hacking was born Aug. 30, 1888 in Maeser, Uintah County, a daughter of Thomas and Louisa Froerer Bingham. She married Thomas William Hacking on Oct. 16, 1912 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and he died April 7, 1950.

She served as YWMIA counselor, Relief Society secretary-treasurer and visiting teacher. She was a member of the DUP.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. H. Reed (Bernice) Balle, Columbia; Mrs. Irvin W. (Maurine) Jeffrey, Delta; Mrs. Ernest L. (Lola) Fowlke, Orem; Mrs. C. Walter (Elna) Wilson, Bountiful; Mrs. William B. (Venna) Elton, Cedar Fort; 29 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mark E. (Helen Vilate) Hall, Vernal, and Mrs. William M. (Roseltha) Vernon, Orem.

Friends may call at the mortuary Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. or Saturday prior to services. Burial will be in Cedar Fort Cemetery.

FUNERAL REPORT: Impressive funeral services were held for Karen Bingham Hacking on Saturday, February 19, 1977, in the Wing Morturary Chapel With Bishop Paul C Genho officiating. Mrs Hacking died February 15. Mrs Fon E Cook played the prelude and postlude music and the prayer with the family members was offered by Irvin W Jeffery, a son-in-law. William Hacking Fowlke, a grandson, spoke the invocation which was followed by a vocal solo by Wydell Hacking Jeffery, a grandson. He sang "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" accompanied by Susan D Jeffery. Bishop Paul C Genho spoke comforting remarks to the congregation and the biographical sketch was read by a granddaughter, Victoria Wilson. The sketch was written by Lola H Fowlke, a daughter. Karleen Ellis, a granddaughter read a tribute which was written by Berneice Balle, a daughter.

Speakers who eulogized Mrs Hacking for her life of industry and service were Wesley John Elton, a grandson and Bishop Thomas William Hacking, also a grandson. A vocal solo "Mother of Mine" was sung by Mrs Lucille Peterson. The song was composed by Bernice Bernice Balle. Mrs. Fon Cook was the accompanist. H Reed Balle, Sr., spoke the closing prayer and the dedication of the grave at the Cedar Fort Cemetery was spoken by Howard Clark Hacking.

Serving as pallbearers were Harry Reed Balle, Jr., Keith Leon Jeffery, Joel Hanks Fowlke, Marlyn W. Wilson, James LaVerle Hacking and William Thomas Elton.

The flowers were cared for and arranged by the Cedar Valley Ward Relief Society. (Orem Geneva Times 24 Feb 1977)
