She passed away January 16, 2015 in San Antonio, TX.
She received her B.A. degree from Mary Hardin Baylor, Belton, TX and did her graduate work at George Washington University, Washington D.C.
She taught school for two years before marrying John William (Bill) Bussey August 13, 1938-a union that lasted 63 years. Col. Bussey passed away September 15, 2002.
She became an Army wife in April 1941, and taught wherever her husband was stationed. After WWII, this included Salzburg, Austria; Tokyo, Japan; Honolulu, Hawaii and Arlington, Virginia, where she retired in June 1978.
She and her husband moved to San Antonio to be near dear Army friends.
She was a faithful volunteer at the Ft. Sam Thrift Shop for over twenty years.
She was a loving devoted wife, mother, a doting grandparent and great-grandparent.
She did extensive traveling, read incessantly and loved flower gardening.
Her two great-grandsons added much pleasure to her in her later years.
She is survived by one daughter, Catherine Markham; two grandchildren, Jerry Markham of Austin, Texas and Vicki Markham Sills and husband, Ty of Helotes, Texas; and two great-grandsons, Haidon and Skyler Sills.
The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
