Ruth Margeurite Morris, 104

Ruth Margeurite Morris, 104, of Monticello, formerly of Monon and Brookston, died at 7:25 am, Friday, January 16, 2015 at White Oaks Health Campus in Monticello.

She was born October 13, 1910 in Rensselaer to the late John and Bessie (Stewart) Jordan. She graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1928. Her marriage was to Raymond F. Morris on October 12, 1929, he preceded her in death on June 23, 1997.

Ruth was a past member of Chapel Church and Chapel Church Ladies Aid, as well as a past member of the Brookston Federated Church. She was most recently a member of Francesville Christian Church.

She was a homemaker, mother and a farm wife in every sense of the word. She was always the first one up and the last to go to bed. She would can food, garden, gather and sell eggs, and cook for the farm hands. She would make 3 pies every Saturday and always cooked 3 full meals a day. Ruth enjoyed sewing, loved flowers, and was an avid reader. She cherished every moment she had with her family and friends. Her home and her family meant everything to her.

She is survived by her children, Charlie (Linda) Morris of Monon, Shirley Ann (Curtis) Grigsby of Monticello, Darlene (Mike) Carnahan of Wingate; 13 grandchildren, Doug (Lorie) Amick, Stephen (Susan) Morris, Michael (Lisa) Morris, Diana Bricker, John Bricker, Clark Bricker, Curtis Grigsby II, Andrea (Dale) Schneider, Courtney (Travis) Blankenship, Joel (Natalie) Carnahan, Kirsten (Danny) Brooker, Justin Carnahan (friend: Catherine), Caleb (Kaylie) Carnahan; 33 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 4 children, Ronald Morris, Maxine Bricker, Carolyn Rogers, Donna Amick; 1 son-in-law, Joe Amick; 2 grandsons, David and Darryl Amick.

Friends may call from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon. Interment to follow at Bedford Cemetery in Monon.
