Carol J. Levene, age 75, of Pocahontas, passed away suddenly at her home on Monday, October 29, 2012.
Carol Jean Bollard was born December 18, 1936 in Pocahontas, Iowa. She was the daughter of Richard W. and Frances (Collins) Bollard. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Pocahontas in 1954. After high school she worked as a telephone operator at the telephone exchange office in Pocahontas for several years. On July 3, 1965 Carol married Harry T. Levene at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas.
Carol was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Parish, a longtime member of the Catholic Ladies Society, serving in various capacities, including president. She was a dedicated homemaker, raising her three children. She also contributed to the family business, the Ben Franklin Store she and Harry owned until their retirement in 2002. She was an avid golfer and was always eager to accompany beginners, helping them become comfortable with the game.
Survivors include her children and grandchildren: Dan Levene and his wife Wendy of Hastings, MN; Rich Levene, his wife Emily of Noblesville IN and their children Jordyn Dwyer, Ryan Dwyer and Cael Levene; and Sue (Levene) Steinke, her husband Mike of Hastings, MN and their three daughters Alexis, Victoria and Natalie. Also surviving are her brother Harry (Jody) Bollard of Denver, CO; sisters Nancy Kaiser of Scottsdale, AZ; Katy (Bruce) Bauer of Pocahontas; Rosemarie “Fuzzy” Mell of Pocahontas; sisters-in-law Betty Bollard, Dar Bollard, Jane Bollard and Harla Vial all of Pocahontas and Jane Levene of International Falls, MN; and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry and her parents; brothers Richard, Larry, Tom and Dan Bollard; brothers-in-law Bob Mell, Royal Kaiser, Charles “Bud” Levene, Stan Levene, Ray Vial; sisters-in-law Lucy Bollard and Maxine Levene and nephew, Bob Bollard.
