Husband of Mary E.(Snow) Harris (1839-1907) they married 4 Jan 1866, Wilmington, VT.
Veteran of the Civil War, Enlisted in Company E, Vermont 1st Heavy Artillery Regiment on 01 Sep 1862, promoted to full Corporal on 1 Jan 1865. Mustered out on 24 Jun 1865 He fought at Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Cedar Creek, Spottsylvania and Weldon railroad, VA were he was wounded 18 Jun 1865.
Eye-witness of General Lee's surrender. He also witnessed General march to the sea.
