Funeral services for John Fricke, 66, who died suddenly from a heart attack while gathering wood at his home one mile north of New Bremen, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the residence with Rev. J. C. Melchert in charge. Burial was made in the German Protestant Cemetery at New Bremen. Fricke was preparing to retire from farming when his death occurred. When Fricke complained of feeling tired, John Schierholt, with whom he was working suggested that he rest. He sat down on a log, but death occurred soon after. Born on the farm where he died on Oct. 5, 1874, he was married to Augusta Schierholt on Nov. 17, 1898. The widow survives with a son Elmer and one grandchild, six sisters and two brothers.
