He was born July I6, 1917, in Juniper, the son of Wilmer Liptrot and Victoria Emma King Rigby. He moved to Sublett with his family in 1923. He attended schools in Sublett, Malta and Burley, and he also attended Brigham Young University.
He married Ardith Dennis on August 27, 1938, in Ogden, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on June 10, 1940. Following their marriage, the Rigbys lived in Sublett, where he farmed, drove school bus, helped with mail and milk routes, and later worked for the Forest Service. He was active in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities. He was active in genealogy work. He aiso enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the saxophone and harmonica.
He is survived by his wife Ardith, three sons and their wives, all of Sublett; one daughter of Sterling, Idaho, one daughter of Salt Lake City, and one daughter and her husband of Kearns, Utah; also by 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, three brothers, and one son-in-law.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Malta LDS Ward Church with Bishop Dennis Lee officiating. Burial will be in Sublett Cemetery.
Friends may call at McCulloch-Hansen Mortuary in Burley from 6-8 p.m. Monday, and at the church one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
