JAMES MARION GARST b. Abt. 1833 GA., d. Confederate Soldier's Home in Atlanta March 5, 1916, son of Christopher Marion Garst and Sarah Coltharp Occupation: Phrenologist, married to Sarah.

Garst, James Marion --Private, Mar 4 1862, Discharged, disability, May or June 1862. Enlisted as a private in Co. I, 10th Regt. Ga. State Guards Cavalry, July 28, 1862(?). Roll for Jan 28, 1864, last on file shows him "Absent Without Leave, dismounted." No record of transfer. Pension records show he enlisted as a private in Co A, Beall's Battalion, Ga. State Troops, Sept, 1864, and was discharged in Newnan Ga. in 1865. [Born in Carroll Co Ga. Aug 17, 1833. Died at Confederate Soldiers Home at Atlanta, Mar 5, 1916. Buried there at Hollywood Cemetery.
