Foaled at Claiborne Farm in Kentucky on April 21, 1981, he was sired by Seattle Slew, the 1977 Triple Crown winner. Swale won the 1984 Kentucky Derby and the 1984 Belmont Stakes and accumulated earnings of $1,583,660.00 in just two seasons as a racehorse. Eight days after winning the Belmont Stakes following a workout at Belmont Park the horse collapsed and died of an apparent heart attack. He was buried at Claiborne Farm where he was born just a short three years before. He was awarded the 1984 Eclipse Award for Champion Three Year Old Colt posthumously and was inducted into the Aitken Thoroughbred Hall of Fame on March 16, 1985. (bio by: gravelyconcerned)
