As for the Kentucky gossip That I have read and heard.
Yours truly invites you to review the documentation on Alice's life. LOOK and STUDY the census records. Her father remarried promptly after the demise of Alice's mother Lucinda Nichols, his first wife. Logically, Amanda Alice wasn't fond of forced childcare. Alice, as the oldest, would be responsible for helping her new stepmothers rear several 1/2 siblings; she was the built in housekeeper/baby sitter.
1860 census shows the subject residing with her sister's family, Synthia Tinsley Wolf
Some want to call her selfish. Perhaps revisiting her circumstances would really show her insecurities. She found an older man, Sutton Doyel, MD. to care for and nurture her. Was she attracted to a father figure, ask Dr. Phil.
She greatly influenced her oldest grandchild Mary Alice Monroe Isenberg 14084878 to explore beyond an agrarian Kentucky.
