Ira L. Long Jr. 91, died Saturday surrounded by his family at Baptist Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Long was the only son of Annie DeMent Long and Ira Lanier Long, Sr.

Ira was born in Trenton, TN and was a graduate of Peabody High School. During his freshman year of college, as America became involved in the Second World War and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served as a B-17 pilot.

Afterward he graduated from Auburn University where he served as president of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and became an avid War Eagle.

He was a devoted employee of Binswanger Mirror Co. for over 25 years and the friendships made there were a lasting joy.
Ira was an active member of Second Baptist Church for almost 50 years where he served as a deacon and especially enjoyed serving in the role as usher.

Mr. Long is survived by his wife Margaret, two daughters, Sandra Lee Long of Cordova, and Karin Long Reeser, son-in-law Bill Reeser, three grandsons, Christian, William, and John Reeser all of Germantown.
