Nancy Albright, aged 6 years, a pupil of the second grade at the Columbia Avenue Grade School, Eight Avenue and Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, was instantly killed yesterday at noon when she ran from behind a parked automobile and was struck by another car turning into South Eight avenue from Lincoln Highway.

The little girl was rushed to the Coatesville Hospital in the Washington ambulance and pronounced dead by D. B. V. Maniscalco. She had received a fractured neck, fractured forearms and various lacerations and body bruises.

The story told Deputy Coroner F. B. Manship by Patrolman John Tyron, who was on the scene, and to Captain of Police Robert Hume, and by witnesses, was as follows: The little girl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Albright of 542 Elm street, had left the school building exit on the south Eight avenue side, a few moments after 12 o'clock noon. She crossed the sidewalk hastily and around the rear of a parked automobile belonging to Charles J. Gregary, who lives at the Y.M.C.A. building. The car was thirty feet to the south of Lincoln Highway on the avenue. The child was evidently bent on going to a drug store on the west side of the avenue where the children of the school are in the habit of going at lunch time. An automobile which had been traveling east on the highway operated by Pearl Hardy, 16, of Ercildoun, struck the child. Miss Hardy was accompanied by Dorothy Rayduk, 16, of Honey Brook, R.D. 2. Miss Hardy was operating the car on a beginner's permit. The car which was of the coupe type, belongs to Mrs. Mary Rayduk mother of Dorothy.

From Mr. Gregary and other witnesses it was learned that the Gregary car was awaiting the turn of the traffic light, on Lincoln Highway, which was red, permitting the car or Miss Hardy to move on eastward on the highway. When the green signal flashed, she made a right hand turn into South Eighth avenue. It was then the little girl, almost across the avenue, was struck as she ran toward the west side curb. She was struck by the bumper of the approaching car, thrown to the street and the left rear wheel of the machine passed over her, which was the cause of the fractured neck and arms.

Operator Released

Miss Hardy was taken to the police station, accompanied by Miss Rayduk, where they were questioned by Police Captain Hume, and the Deputy Coroner. On advise from the District Attorney, W. Edward Greenwood, after the explanation of the police captain, Miss Hardy was released in the custody of her parents and told to appear at the police station with them today.

Death Accidental

After reviewing the case and the circumstances and finding that the young girl operating the death car had been obeying all traffic rules and not exceeding speed, the deputy coroner said that he considered the death of the girl an accident and would probably not hold an inquest.

The death of little Nancy cast a deep gloom over the school yesterday afternoon. She was beloved by her little companions and her teacher, Mrs. James Buchanan.
