Clair E. Holmberg 86, Coupon, died December 25, 2014 at home. Born February 3, 1928 in Coupon, son of the late Emmet W. and Augusta M. (Chirdon) Holmberg. Preceded in death by sons, Timothy Clair and Mark Anthony, infant brothers: Ralph and Francis, brothers: Walter, killed during WWll, twins, Emmet and Arden, sisters: Ruth Mueller, Helen Will-Landis, Rita McElfresh, Mary Lipple, Violet Lipple, and Evelyn Eyer. Last member of his immediate family.

Survived by wife of 64 years, the former Veronica Kulak whom he married November 22, 1950 in Gallitzin. Children: Greg (Jeanie) Front Royal, VA; Linda Behe (Larry) Lilly; Mary Ann Holmberg, Pittsburgh; Michael (Kathy) Altoona; Daughters in law: Pamela Holmberg-Wertz (John) Altoona; Rebecca Holmberg Fairfax, VA.

Grandchildren: Shawn (Michelle) Holmberg , Lacey Jones (Charles), Nicholas and Zachary Holmberg. Step Grand Children: Dave Helsel , Brian Helsel (Chrissy ), Christine Dively( Steve).

Great Grandchildren: Baillie and Alaina Holmberg.

Step Great Grandchildren: Josh, Ashley, Jenna, Alexander, and Caitlin Helsel.

Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clair loved spending time with his children and caring for his wife. He received a Bachelor’s degree in teaching from Penn State University. U. S. Army Air Force Veteran of WWll. Before becoming a teacher he worked in various auto body shops, and retired in 1989 from the Greater Altoona Career Technical Center as an auto body instructor.

Member of Knights of Columbus, Gallitzin Council, former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Coupon until it was dissolved and then became a member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, Rev. Albert Ledoux, celebrant. Committal, St. Joseph Cemetery, Coupon. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville where a Vigil Service will be held Sunday afternoon. Military Rites in charge of Local Military Organizations. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the family in Clair’s memory.
